As you can tell on your fall teaching schedules (CLICK HERE for reference), we will be taking time next month to pause regular bible study curriculum. This is something that came out of multiple conversations with various adults and students. We discussed how to better equip Christ following students to better understand an identity in Christ and how to answer hard cultural questions with scripture. As the verse says, “It seemed pleasing to the Holy Spirit and to us.” So we are a full go! Here is the general flow.
October 16, 23, 30 will be the Sundays we will transition a bit. They are all Structure 2 format (everyone meets in rooms from 9:30-10:30ish).
Try and begin with fun table conversation or entrust another adult leader on your team to lead with a fun activity. Laughter is the best icebreaker.
Play the designated Right Now Media video lesson for your group. To access the videos for preparation purposes, click the above link, log in with our username and password, and select “My Queue” under the “My Profile” tab. Both series are located there.

TEACH & FACILITATE
You will need a Main Teacher to facilitate discussion from the front of the room after the videos each week. The actual links to the content and questions are located below. Encourage your Main Teachers to take it back and forth between table groups and large group. This allows more students to ask questions and engage. Trust your adults!
“Identity” Lesson Guides (Grades 7-9)
The Content for this study is primarily found in the Group Handouts. I have also attached Leader Guides in below attachments to help equip you a little better. My suggestion is to assign certain tables different quotes/questions/scriptures to talk through and then come back together in large group discussion. Click below to access.

The point of this study is to help students understand what a valued identity in Christ looks like in contrast to a conformed identity rooted in sin.

In a culture that takes every opportunity to promote tolerance and conformity, do Christ followers have a deepened understanding of the transformational power of the Gospel? The heartbeat is to continue to challenge students to have a reason for the Hope that they have.
We will be most effective in teaching and leading if every leader is operating out of their own identity as Christ followers. Don’t make something up or pull something out of the air. Ask the Lord to make you aware of His Spirit’s guidance as you dig into the Scriptures and pray for your students ahead of time.
